![]() ![]() The unknown factors of our new DIY pea gravel patio will be how hard it is to keep leaves & pine needles off of it to keep it looking new & clean looking. The CONS of this DIY pea gravel patio are that Moose (our crazy labradoodle) doesn’t love walking on the stone & you really can’t walk on it comfortably in your bare feet. The PROS of this new stone patio are the low cost & easy installation of creating a large patio of this size.Īlso, that the mature trees can still get the rain water they need, no more groundhogs & rabbits living under our deck & the stone gravel patio matches the rest of the hardscaping on the exterior of our farmhouse. We already owned the large flagstone we used for the entrance & Belgium Block/ Cobblestone we used for the edging. /rebates/2fn2fhow-to2fdiy-pea-gravel-patio&252fn252fhow-to252fdiy-pea-gravel-patio26tc3dbing-&idlowes&nameLowe27s&ra1. If the area is large, a weed killer may have to be used. A lot of drought-loving plants don’t require shelter. The cost of our pea gravel patio was less than $500 for the pea gravel delivery as well as the landscape fabric. Here's how to create a gravel garden, no matter the size or style of your outdoor space. Our new stone patio is approximately 12 feet deep by 26 feet wide by 3-4 inches deep not counting the pea gravel walkway that meets up with our flagstone patio. The pea gravel will still allow for our mature Douglas Spruce trees to still get the moisture they need to continue to grow tall & strong & shade our backyard kitchen patio. It also matches the rest of the hardscaping for the exterior of our farmhouse like our flagstone and pea gravel walkway, our flagstone patio, our firepit gravel patio, & all the other walkways around our farmhouse. ![]() With a little creativity, the possibilities are endless. We chose to install a DIY Pea Gravel patio because it’s inexpensive & easy to install. Do you want a contrast in colors or textures, or to create a seamless look? Perhaps you want to match your edging to elements on the exterior of your home, or maybe you want to pick a look that brings an extra dose of character to the space, such as statement boulders or neatly-clipped low hedging. In terms of style, think carefully about how your choice of edging will enhance your existing theme. Choosing a design you can DIY is generally more affordable than hiring a pro. If you're looking to make a saving, there are plenty of cheap garden edging ideas to try. For instance, laying setts or cobbles or installing a built-in half wall that doubles up as a bench could be more expensive and time-consuming than simply surrounding your paving with a border of gravel or plants. 'You should also consider the time and labor involved,' he adds. 'There are practical considerations to garden borders and edging installation such as how you will bed, fix, and point the elements,' says Cass of Paving Direct. The best patio edging ideas depend on a few factors, including your budget and the size and style of your space. That corten steel fire pit has caught our attention too – the perfect centerpiece for alfresco get-togethers. Install landscaping fabric ( view example on Amazon) beneath the patio to separate dirt and gravel, so you don’t end up with a muddy mess in a few seasons. Both strategies are used in this landscape, which includes a fence,pea-gravel garden paths,a flagstone patio, and a mulched area near the oyster-shell bocce. It's a show-stopping addition to this space, made even better by the nearby water feature and textural planting around the borders. ![]() See more ideas about gravel patio, backyard, patio stones. This racquet performs really well at the net. If you hit with some spin and want to come at your opponent “all guns blazing”, this is a must demo. For my game, I enjoy a really controlled launch angle and would probably play better tennis with the improved control of the 18×20 version. This generation is definitely more spin-friendly than the previous generation. This is definitely the racquet in the Babolat range that requires the most from the user. You definitely need to add some spin on your shots to get the ball to land in. The issue is that the power might be overbearing when you're not playing and moving well. When I was in the zone and playing well it was a huge weapon and allows the player to blast winners left, right and center. Most manufacturers fail to offer decent quality control, especially considering that a tennis racquet is not cheap – if you pay more than $200 for a product, you need to expect something more.ĭespite the heavy specs, I enjoyed hitting with the Pure Strike 98. I have talked about the issue before, so no need to dwell on it. So I definitely got a racquet at the top of the range in specs. Not sure what happened in the QC department, but the TW review demo was 323g strung and had a 327 SW. My racquet felt pretty heavy with those specs. The muted feel is not my cup of tea, but I still managed to hit touch shots with it, so it's not as disconnected as I felt at first. I prefer the 2017 version over this one, but I find this racquet to be ultra-stable, powerful, and very easy to generate depth with. More advanced players might find it to be a bit too much and long for the more connected feel of generation 2. Like you can read in the first sentence, the Pure Strike 98 is all about power. Head size: 98 sq inches Beam: 21 / 23 / 21 mm String pattern: 16×19 String: Solinco Confidential 1.25 at 54 lbs Weight: 336g Balance: 32.5 cm Swing weight: 342 How does it play? My strung specs (one overgrip) were on the heavier side Personally, I enjoy the improved comfort, but the power is often too much and I struggled to control my shots at times. The new Babolat Pure Strike 98 16×19 is definitely more powerful, muted, and offers a higher launch angle than the predecessor. If this is what they intended to do, they really succeded. What we can learn from all this is that the racquet is supposed to be more muted and comfortable than the predecessor and offer a bit more spin and power. The racquet also comes with FSI Power technology “which features wider spacing between the upper cross strings for easier access to spin and pace.” “ Better vibration dampening thanks to a new material integrated into the graphite of the racket that provides an incredible sound and a pure feel.” The new Pure Strike comes with Cortex Pure Feel which Babolat describes like this: You can buy the Pure Strike 98 from All Things Tennis. Use the code TENNISNERD and get 5% off on all racquet purchases and a free stringing. It is hard to get the brands to ship things to Malta and we don't have much of a tennis racquet market here, so I really appreciate it. Thanks to All Things Tennis for sending me a demo racquet. It is clear that this racquet is made to communicate towards the daring, aggressive player. The new Babolat Pure Strike 98 continues the white paint job that was introduced with generation 2 ( Project One Seven) but makes it bolder with black and red lettering across the frame. ![]() ![]() Tsonga went on to the Aero Pro Drive (which later became the Pure Aero), while Thiem remained with the Babolat Pure Strike 98. The Pure Strike came out in 2014 in the Darth Maul-inspired black and red paint job and had both Tsonga and Thiem as poster boys. You can read about the different ones on my page of Babolat tennis racquets. What the French company does well is not to introduce too many racquet lines in their range. The Pure Strike is Babolat's line of racquets for the more flat-hitting attacking player. The third generation of the Babolat Pure Strike has been out for a while, but I have not gotten around to reviewing the 98, 16×19 version until now. |
